Liposuction or liposculpture is a body contouring procedure relying on the removal of excess fatty tissue.
A success that knows no boundaries
Dr. Prescott has been performing liposuction at his Montréal clinic since the procedure was first introduced in the 1980s. The popularity of this cosmetic surgery lies on the fact that, in many cases, neither exercise nor diet succeeds in eliminating specific fatty tissue.
Liposuction surgery helps men and women achieve a better appearance, rejuvenating their figure with a slimmer and more harmonized silhouette.
Liposuction a cosmetic surgery under local anaesthesia
Performed under local anaesthesia since the late 1980s, risks associated with general anaesthesia are nonexistent; this translates in reduced procedure expense and recovery time.
The most often targeted areas
- Neck
- Arms
- Abdomen
- Sides of the torso
- Buttocks
- Outer thighs (“saddle bags/culotte de cheval”)
- Inner thighs
- Knees
- Calves and ankles
The procedure step by step
Patients must go through a pre-operative assessment in order to determine their general health, and the local anaesthetic dosage required for their body weight.
Before starting the liposuction, patients are administered a pre-operative medication that induces calm and relaxation.
As patients remain conscious through the entire procedure, they witness the high degree of professionalism involved. Once the body part is disinfected, anaesthetized and marked, the surgeon and his assisting nurse proceed with the removal of fatty deposits. The entire procedure is painless.
Once the liposuction is completed, a dressing and a support girdle is applied.
The post-operative period
Whether the liposuction targets the abdomen, thighs or neck, the dressing should stay in place for 24 hours. Depending on the type of procedure, the girdle must be worn between 1 to 3 weeks. In certain cases, bruising will appear; it is normal. The post-operative period is accompanied with very little pain and a mild sedative is enough to get rid of it. In most cases, patients can return to work 48 hours later.
Liposuction will give you permanent results
Except in cases of considerable weight gains, the removal of fatty tissue gives permanent results. Your new silhouette is yours for life!
